The organization of any complex arrangement hinges on the interplay of seemingly haphazard individual events.

I can't make this up...

"We had an incident last week where we sent a roach into an duct to test for an air leak, when we asked the roach to turn right, it responded by asking for our email addresses and offered to send us viagra in return."

My cat

Someone stole my cat, had it declawed, and then released it. I'm so angry I can't even finish this post.

Creative Writing

How would everyone feel about me picking up an old hobby of mine? Every once in a while I would just post some random chunk of a story as it fills my head. There would most likely be no beginning to the story, and probably no end either. Just some section in the middle describing people in a scenario. What they look like, how they feel, and why they feel that way.

Longest Birthday I've ever had.

It's now my birthday. Because it's starting on the east coast and ending on the west coast I'll have 3 more hours of birthday. Normally my birthday is the second shortest day of the year so I figure I've had this day coming.

FOREX? For sure...

I started playing in the foreign exchange market. I started with $50,000 in fake money (but real market). I've made 5,000 today. Heh, I rock. Granted, markets fluctuate. But, if I can double my money in 6 months, I'm going to actually put real money into it.

Last Day in Florida.

I've been sick this entire time. Damn sinus infection. I hate being sick. Every moment not in class has been in bed. I didn't even check out the beach. I'll try and take a few pictures of stuff before I bail though.

10 Rules for Running Google

Hire by committee. Virtually every person who interviews at Google talks to at least half-a-dozen interviewers, drawn from both management and potential colleagues. Everyone's opinion counts, making the hiring process more fair and pushing standards higher. Yes, it takes longer, but we think it's worth it. If you hire great people and involve them intensively in the hiring process, you'll get more great people. We started building this positive feedback loop when the company was founded, and it has had a huge payoff.

The imfamous "Eels" video

Why, oh why, did I repost this thing? Because no matter how many times I rename the damn thing people keep finding it and watching it. This leaves me with a huge bandwidth hog. So now I've used audioblog.com to host the video for me. I don't care how many times it's watched now. Oh yea, don't watch the video. It's sick.

Minimum Requirements for Longhorn

"Microsoft is expected to recommend that the 'average' Longhorn PC feature a dual-core CPU running at 4 to 6GHz; a minimum of 2 gigs of RAM; up to a terabyte of storage; a 1 Gbit, built-in, Ethernet-wired port and an 802.11g wireless link; and a graphics processor that runs three times faster than those on the market today. Homeless Rather Get Handouts Than Work

what tian has learned: Homeless Rather Get Handouts Than Work From now on don't feel bad for not giving them money. The ones that truely need it are too mentally ill to hold signs. You know, the ones that talk to themselves.

(Disfunctional) American Family Insurance

Becki calls me today and tells me that I have a letter from American Family Insurance with the phrase "Payment Enclosed". This means only one thing. Someone somewhere screwed up my insurance again and now it's cancelled.

I call up AmFam and speak to Anthony who tells me they haven't received a payment in two months. I check with my US Bank's online banking and sure enough it shows the checks as sent and paid. I ran into this problem once before. So now I have to go down there on Saturday and show them the check.

Here's where the problem comes in. I thought I paid them already. So naturally, I thought the money was gone. I don't have enough to cover both months right now. Plus this gig I'm on now (for Dell) doesn't pay until December 18th. I have to be in New York on the 18th. I'm screwed.

First Class

Hi Justin, I had reserved two classes in December for you, but you're not cci yet, so I'm finishing out their year. On the week of the 19th I'm doing the first CCEA 4.0 accelerated track. Problem is I had a tentative 1256aI in NYC that same week of the 19th. Will you be a certified instructor by then, and are you available, the rate agreed on was *$$$$ per day plus travel. Charlie Looks like I'm hitting the ground running. I finish taking the "train the trainer" class on December 16th. *Edited for tact.

TV Barn

[W]e learn that the huge spike in indecency complaints lodged at the FCC in third quarter 2005 came as a result of one organization: yep, the Parents Television Council. The PTC filed 23,542 of the 23,547 complaints the FCC received in July, mostly against the same two programs

So far, too good

So this business idea I've had has taken off. Business plan is finished. Funding will come through by the end of the week (hopefully) and I already have 2 customers and 2 very interested parties. This means that (aside from the initial start up capital) we'll be breaking even after the first month. Damn I'm psyched. No Becki. You can't mooch. ;) We both know you're too independent for the house wife gig. It's one of the reasons I love you so.

Dell sells AMD

Dell Computers now sells machines with AMD processors. When I say "with" I mean "outside the machine in a cardboard box".
Instead, Dell is selling six, standalone Athlon processors. The chips perform well, which is nice, and could be seen as a plus for customers. Only, you can't buy a Dell system with the chips installed, and you can't upgrade existing PCs because they use Intel-only motherboards.
This is Dell's way of helping Intel out of their soon-to-be-filed anti-trust lawsuit. Read more

The early bird gets to die.

Why is it people feel the need to call me at 8am on a Saturday? Why? These people aren't strangers. They're two of my closest friends. They should know I'm going to be asleep. Windy called me at 8am and then Greg called me at 10am. Is it a cooperative effort for a psychological break? What did I do to them to deserve this?

Super Sexy Geek Action!

I came up with a great idea.

Let me rephrase that, I took a great idea that myself and Rabbit shared a while ago (but let die) and turned into something I could use with my site. My blog will now be simulcast back to my old blog on Blogger. It seems I miss out on alot of people actually reading my blog because I'm no longer in the random loop that Blogger provides. Behold! I now harness the power of Blogger! Let me show you what I'm talking about. Go look. Pretty cool huh? Now I just need to get back to supplying my blog with some genuine personal content.
