I meant behavioral patterns. You are an individual person but you (and I) are basically a patchwork quilt of patterns. I may know 5 people who shares 3 of the same patterns as you. I also know 2 other people who share other patterns with you. You can use this idea to figure out people you barely know. You won't get everyone 100% right 100% of the time. You'll always get a few strikes but it's rare you'll strike out entirely. The longer you wait and the more you observe, the less you'll be wrong.
